This is very interesting as well. I thought it to be some sort of pottery, looked up the title name and found a cartoon my boys used to watch. So I am more confused than ever! haha! But I still love it! Beautiful color and texture, and still reminds me of pottery which I like very much! :D

Your instincts are correct, Deb. Raku is a style of pottery that incorporates the natural flaws and imperfections in the crafting. It's very organic, and I admire it a great deal. This is a tea bowl, some of which are very old, highly prized and extremely valuable. I painted this as a commission.
